Chad Larson is a native of Montoursville and began his Scouting career in 1998 as an Assistant Scoutmaster. Later that year, he left the area to attend college at Penn State University where he majored in Operations and Information Systems Management. While in college, Chad stayed connected to the troop by managing the troop website and attending campouts when possible.
In 2002, Chad became a committee member of the troop and in 2003 he returned to the area and took on a more active roll in the unit. He served as the Committee Chairman for ten and a half years from June 2005 to December 2015. Today, Chad is an Assistant Scoutmaster.
Chad took on the role of Cubmaster of Pack 88 in June of 2016. Pack 88 is the sister unit to Troop 172.
During Chad’s tenure, he was awarded the Committee Chairman of the Year for his service in 2010 and completed Wood Badge course NE-IV-209 in 2010. He has also served on staff for Wood Badge course N5-533-11-1 in 2011 and the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) course in 2015.
